WHY VEGAN?

I don't want animals to suffer in my name

The slaughter of animals is completely unnecessary for our survival or well-being.

No convincing reason to eat meat

"Because it tastes good" is not a good enough reason for me to justify the pain and suffering it causes to animals.

Environmental Benefits

Most crops worldwide are grown directly to feed cattle, whereas if this ground were used to feed humans, we would have enough to feed the world and eradicate poverty.

More greenhouse gases are produced by animals we farm for meat and dairy than by all the cars, trucks, trains, planes, and ships combined globally.

Veganism is a sustainable way of life for the planet.

The UN acknowledges that our current agriculture and food system is unsustainable.

Here is an interesting video made by non-vegetarians, considering the impact on the environment should we all become vegetarian overnight.

"What if the world went vegetarian?"

It makes me happy

Ever since, at the age of 12, I read a book on the industry, I have believed this is the right outlook and the right way of living. If I am not vegan, I will always know I am failing my own logical and ethical beliefs.

I can

I am in the privileged position to allow myself to be vegan as I have so many different food choices in the supermarket.

I follow a healthier diet

You are not automatically eating healthily if you are vegan. There is plenty of vegan "junk food" too, so you could be an extremely unhealthy vegan, but by cutting out animal products you reduce your intake of large quantities of saturated fat and many processed foods.

All the cool people are doing it

Some famous vegan celebrities include:

Ellie Goulding, Liam Hemsworth, Ariana Grande, Ellen DeGeneres, Woody Harrelson

Mayim Bialik, Casey Affleck, Moby, JME, Sia, Stevie Wonder, Pamela Anderson, Bryan Adams, Ellie Goulding, Natalie Portman, David Haye, Brad Pitt, Mike Tyson, Al Gore.

Why vegan over vegetarian?

A huge amount of suffering is caused by the dairy and egg industry. The production of milk requires cows to be repeatedly impregnated and their resulting male calves to be slaughtered. The dairy cows are slaughtered when their milk production decreases.

Similarly, in the egg industry, male chicks are killed when they are one day old as they are not useful for laying eggs.
